UAE Fitness Competition Season: What's Coming Up

From a Presidential Guard challenge in UAQ to HYROX in Sharjah and the Spartan World Championship on Yas Island — here's every competition worth circling on your calendar.

The UAE fitness calendar is stacked for the rest of 2026. Whether you compete in functional fitness, hybrid racing, bodybuilding, or obstacle course racing, there's a race with your name on it. Here's what's coming — in order.

August 2026

Elite Fitness Challenge by Presidential Guard — 9 Aug · Umm Al Quwain

One of the more unique competitions on the calendar. This is a teams event — three athletes per team, men's and women's categories — with multiple qualification workouts building to a final. Umm Al Quwain doesn't host many big fitness events, so this one stands out. If you've been looking for an excuse to compete with your training partners, this is it.

Hybrid Abu Dhabi Challenge — 22 Aug · ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi

ADNEC is one of the best indoor venues in the country for fitness events — air-conditioned, well-organised, and central. This hybrid-format competition combines strength and endurance elements, making it a solid test for athletes who've been putting in work across both disciplines. Details are still being confirmed, so keep an eye on registrations.

Throwdown Night Shift — 28 Aug · Circuit Factory, Dubai

Circuit Factory runs some of Dubai's most consistent functional fitness programming, and their Night Shift Throwdown has built a reputation as a grassroots community favourite. Expect a late-evening start, high energy, and a format that rewards well-rounded fitness over raw strength. Good one for athletes who want their first competition experience in a supportive environment.

September 2026

Apex Games UAE — Season 2 Opener — 12 Sep · Expo Centre Sharjah

Apex Games is one of the newer series on the UAE scene and it's growing fast. Season 2 kicks off in Sharjah, with three more events to follow across the 2026/27 season. The format blends running with functional workouts in an arena setting — if you've never done a hybrid race series, this is an accessible entry point.

October – November 2026

Dubai Muscle Show — 30 Oct–1 Nov · Dubai World Trade Centre

The Middle East's flagship bodybuilding and fitness expo turns 10 this year. Three days, multiple stages, hundreds of competitors across physique categories, and the usual parade of supplement brands and fitness influencers. Whether you're competing or spectating, this is the biggest single fitness event of the UAE calendar year.

Dubai Fitness Challenge (Dubai 30x30) — 31 Oct–29 Nov · Citywide

A month of free and low-cost fitness events across Dubai — outdoor workouts, yoga, cycling, swimming, and more. Not a competition in the traditional sense, but if you want to stay active and discover new gyms and coaches across the city, there's nothing better. Over 45 days of programming across dozens of venues.

Spartan World Championship Weekend — 19–22 Nov · Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

The biggest OCR weekend of the year, and one of the most prestigious finishes a UAE-based athlete can chase. Four race formats — Sprint (5K), Super (10K), Beast (20K), and Ultra Beast (50K) — over four days on Yas Island. If you've been building toward a serious OCR goal, this is your race. Youth races are also on the programme on 21 November.

Turf Games Dubai — 20–21 Nov · ISD Stadium, Dubai Sports City

Annual two-day functional fitness team competition. Mixed team format, stadium setting, and a crowd atmosphere that makes it one of the most fun weekends on the calendar. A fixture for Dubai's CrossFit and functional fitness community.

WODON3 at Emirates Dubai 7s — 27 Nov · The Sevens Stadium

Functional fitness inside the Emirates Dubai 7s festival — the biggest sports and entertainment weekend in Dubai. Competing here means access to tens of thousands of spectators who wouldn't normally watch a fitness competition. Unusual format, great atmosphere, worth experiencing at least once.
